Biography

Jacquie Aitken, BA, BSW, RSW is the Executive Director of Pace.  Jacquie has worked with issues of sexual assault and family violence since 1978. In 1980, she was a as the Executive Director of the third shelter for battered women to open in Alberta, founding members of the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters, and the Alberta Association of Sexual Assault Centers/Services, Grande Prairie RCMP Victims’ Service Unit, the Caribou Child and Youth Centre, and the Suicide Resource Centre. Jacquie has been the Executive Director of the Pace Sexual Assault Centre, 1987 to present. She has provided direct therapeutic interventions with victims and offenders of physical and sexual violence, and has coordinated critical incidences interventions affecting work groups, schools and communities across the region. Jacquie has an extensive understanding of complex trauma, PTSD and treatment alternatives.
