A.3: A Model of Collaborative Intervention Practice within a Cultural Brokering Framework

In this presentation, The Multicultural Health Brokers Co-operative will present their experience in pursuing this model of collaborative child and family intervention practice with Children’s Services colleagues with immigrant, refugee and other newcomer families.

This presentation will highlight learning about the realities of vulnerable refugee, immigrant and other newcomer families and how the cultural brokering practice supports culturally responsive and competent collaborative practice of Children Services colleagues (and Collaborative Service Delivery partners as well in Edmonton), as well as the key outcomes for the families, communities and colleagues within the child intervention system.

The presentation will conclude with exploring the implications of this collaborative model using cultural brokering as the anchoring principle and for long term practice on immigrant, refugee and newcomer populations, as well as the potential relevance on other vulnerable populations.
